Charlotte Bouckaert (1983, Belgium) has been active as a visual artist since 2009, and makes in situ photographic work, video, installations and performances, in which she is constantly searching for movement and transience. How can we relate to still images, which are an instant moment in a certain place? Instead of the image capturing time, she wants the image to evolve over time. So it is not about the 'decisive moment'. She no longer sees photos as autonomous aesthetic objects. It is about the process of creation, making it move or make it disappear. While photography is meant to preserve what is in danger of disappearing forever, Bouckaert goes in search of the transience of the fixed image.
