Everything brings us back to the body

EVERYTHING BRINGS US BACK TO THE BODY is the working title of Ehsan’s second piece as a maker and first self-choreographed work. A piece for one dancer/choreographer with his body, and a (1m.2m) brass sheet, used for both its mirror-like quality and its musicality.

Ehsan is looking for a sculptural quality in this new work, focused on reflection and echo as results of the interaction between the body and the non-living object/brass sheet.

Movement-wise, he is interested in working withthe form of rituals.

Yasen Vasilev -poet, playwright and dramaturg, based in Sofia- will be joining the project as an outside eye. This will be their second collaboration after his contribution to the text for Ehsan’s debut piece I PUT A SPELL ON YOU (co-labo 2018).

For the content of the work, they will be looking for a combination of mystical poetry and mythology with contemporary theory, most notably Persian poet Rumi and Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe.
