Nothing Sexual

At the end of the 1960s, and thus at the beginning of the 'so-called' sexual revolution, Jacques Lacan, a renowned psychoanalyst of the time, stated: 'there is no sexual intercourse'. This sentence, with all its irony, has remained in history as an emblem and sentence of the impossible - of that which doesn’t succeed in meeting - between man and woman.

Today, 50 years later, we are still in a state of revolution. 'Trans', 'bi', 'pan', 'cis', 'poly', 'fluid', 'two spirits' - the multiplication of genders testifies more than ever to the impossibility of accounting for sexual difference by drowning it in a 'genderfucker' atmosphere. The more we multiply sexual identities, the more we find ourselves lost in the indefinite.

This deconstruction of gender, which today limits itself to leaving the 'duel' in the plural, still does not come to the end of the sexual relationship that would not exist. Introducing the theme in this way, a choreographic creation on the question of gender would only add to the categories.

So let's set the record straight! It will not be a study of our sexual identities. It will not be about sex. Nor will it be about the war of the sexes. Or the feminine revolution just begun or the masculine revolution to come. It will not be a question of producing additional knowledge on the issue. Except that it will only be a question of that, since it is always only about that!
